The Path To Jesus

3 more weeks until the Summer break.

This is a good time to start thinking about what’s next for your group.

  • Plans for summer socials

  • Future leaders

  • Creating room for new people

  • Starting a new group

Take some time in your meetings over the next few weeks to talk about what’s next for your group.

As you you keep them in the loop and include them in the planning, you’ll create more buy-in and prepare your group for what’s next.

The Path To Love

This is the first week of our Spring Trimester. The trimester will be 6 weeks long and end right before Memorial Day.

It is a great week to eat a meal together after a 2-week break.

This week’s discussion may be a great week to gauge where the people in our group stand in their faith, whether they are kicking the tires of Christianity, are ready to believe, or need to grow in their commitment to and trust in Christ.

If you have people in your group who are exploring faith, this week may be an opportunity to encourage them to take a step toward belief, or even pray to receive Christ as their Leader and forgiver in group prayer time or in a 1-on-1 connection outside of group.

You may also want to take some time to set Growth Goals for the next 6 weeks. As the weather warms, people are more likely to be absent or drift. Setting goals together may help encourage pursuit of Christ instead of drifting from Christ and community.

Thanks for leading!

The Path To Life

While Community Groups are on break this week, the sermon discussion questions are still provided below if your group would like to discuss them.

If your group decides to meet during the break, you may also consider changing up your group format and doing a group social activity.

Sometimes just hanging out together builds friendship in different ways than you may experience in formal group meetings.

Mountains Still Move

This is the last week of the Winter Community Group Trimester.

Here are 3 great ways to end the trimester:

  • Share a meal together

  • Celebrate communion over the meal (Communion Instructions)

  • Spend time praying for and celebrating what God is doing through the Mountain Mover series and future launch of the Brighton Campus. Use the Mountain Mover Prayer cards (Found HERE)

We have a 2 week break until the Spring Trimester begins.

The Spring Trimester will go for 6 weeks from April 16th - May 17th.

For Such A Time As This

With this series everyone will receive a booklet where they can take sermon notes and also see the sermon discussion questions. Encourage your group to bring the booklets with them to group.

You may also consider using the 28-Day Prayer Cards in your prayer time to guide your prayers as a group for what God may do in our hearts and in our church as we look to saturate Rochester with the Gospel.

No More Worry

This is our first week in our Mountain Mover series as we take a look at the 4 times Jesus said “You of little faith.”

With this series everyone will receive a booklet where they can take sermon notes and also see the sermon discussion questions. Encourage your group to bring the booklets with them to group.

As part of this series, we will also have a 28-day prayer challenge. The Northridge app includes a notifications option to receive those prayer requests each day. You can also download a PDF of the 28-Day Prayer Cards if you’d like to use them as a group in your prayer time together.

Find Joy In Suffering

Adam shared several passages on Sunday to read, reflect on and memorize during the week. In addition to discussing the sermon from Sunday, consider doing either of the following with your group:

Memorization:

  • Invite your group members to pick one of the verses below and memorize it this week. Then share with each other next week how God used that verse as you reflected on it.

    • Romans 8:18

    • 2 Corinthians 4:16-17

    • Psalm 46:1

Bible Reading:

  • Consider reading 1 chapter each day of the letter to the Philippians (4 chapters) and then texting your group members about your reflections.

Coming Alongside Others in Their Pain

The focus of this week’s message is to walk alongside others in their pain.

Discussing the sermon is great, but even more important is having your group walk alongside of each other both in your group time and outside of it.

Who in your group can you reach out to this week outside of your meeting time to checkin, listen, and show them you care?

How To Respond To Suffering

One of the most important things we can do as followers of Jesus is to pray for and with each other.

One of the things we love about doing Community Groups at Northridge is that the majority of adults in our church have an opportunity to spend time in prayer together each week.

While a big part of Community Groups is reading the Bible and discussing it together, some weeks like this week may be good to shorten our discussion time and spend more time in prayer.

Focus your attention on the application question in prayer time and then spend an extended time in prayer together.

After each person shares a prayer request or answer to their application question, have one person pray for them. Taking turns sharing and then praying, can help everyone stay focused when our times of prayer are longer.

We would love for everyone in group this week to have someone pray for something they are struggling with.

God's Purpose in Trials

This is the first week of our new sermon series, “When Life Hits Hard.”

Community Group discussions are great, but healthy groups go beyond discussions, they provide care for each other.

Make sure to go beyond sermon discussion and reach out, care for, and pray for your group members this week when they share hardships they are going through.

Set aside some time to pray each morning, or consider having group members choose a prayer partner to connect with during the week.

What Voices Are You Listening To?

This is the last week of the Who Am I? sermon series on identity and week 3 of the Community Group trimester.

If you have not had a chance to set growth goals yet with your group members, make sure to take some time in your prayer time this week to set goals with each other, or to invite those who missed last week to set a goal.

Two Lies About Human Identity (Gender Identity)

This is week 2 of the 11 week Winter Community Group Trimester.

Like last week, today’s message is on the sensitive topic: gender identity.

Some groups may want to dive right into discussing this topic, while others may choose to skip sermon discussion, do a meal, and spend additional time sharing stories.

Northridge has provided boxes of story cards if you’d like to use those as a tool to get to know each other on a deeper level.

Whether you discuss the sermon or not, we would encourage group leaders to let everyone in prayer time know, you are available to talk and pray with them about any questions or struggles they may have in these areas.

As with the beginning of any new trimester, we would also encourage groups to put together a shared volunteer schedule, set growth goals, and start group with a meal.

Two Lies About Human Identity (Abortion)

This is week 1 of the 11 week Winter Community Group Trimester.

Here are a few important things to consider for week 1:

This weekend (1/15) and next weekend (1/22) we are preaching on 2 sensitive topics (abortion and gender identity).

Some groups may want to dive right into discussing these, while others may choose to skip sermon discussion the next 2 weeks, do a meal, and spend time sharing stories.
